Coach's Comments |
John 'Colin' was a great kid to work with and did better and better throughout camp. He has a good all around technical base and is good with his hands in most situations. He also seems to have a good understanding for the game and reads it well as a GK. He also has a lot of natural athletic attributes that will help him to be successful moving forward. He does need to fine tune some things, and as a 2018 GK he is on a good trajectory to keep improving and have a good senior year. |
Low balls/1v1's - 1v1' are a difficult skill to perfect. The attacker always has the advantage in these situations because he knows what he wants to do. It is your job as a GK to make his life difficult and give him as few options a possible in these situations. Stay up, on your feet, and stay big in these situations and it will help to be successful. |
Communication/leadership - This is one of the most important traits in my opinion. As a GK, you are in the back and see everything that is going on all the time. Be loud so you know that your teammates can hear you. Tell them what you see and tell them what you need them to do so that you and your team can be successful. |
Agility - You have pretty good physical attributes all around. What I think could help you the most would be to improve on your agility. Quick feet, explosiveness, and covering a short amount of ground is very important as a GK in numerous situations. |
